Finnish Sprint Orienteering Championships (R1 and R2) and a World Ranking Event (WRE) in Helsinki, on Sunday 17th of September 2017.
Preliminary competition areas are embargoed and therefore orienteering and any kind of training or preparation for the race with a map is forbidden there. Otherwise access is free. Embargoed areas are presented here and on www.karttarekisteri.fi.
Competition area will be published in Suunnistaja magazine number 8 (publication date 4th of August 2017) and simultaneously on the event pages. It is forbidden to all competitors to enter the competition area from 3rd of September onwards with the following exceptions:
- Driving through the area via main roads is allowed (Turunväylä, Kehä I, Kaupintie, Hakamäentie, Ramsaynranta)
- Public transportation through the area may be used, but stepping out of the bus or train inside the competition area is not allowed.
Specific information on main roads and public transportation will be published later.
Classes: H21, H20, H18, H17, H16, H15, H14, D21, D20, D18, D17, D16, D15, D14, H35-H85, D35-D85.
Entry fee: 33,80 euros in all classes
Registration: By 7th of September using IRMA registration system provided by the Finnish Orienteering Federation. No late entries. H/D21 classes: All participants attending WRE must have a valid ID issued by the International Orienteering Federation, more information here.
Punching: Emit. Emit-number must be submitted at the time of registration.
Map: Sprint orienteering map, scale 1: 4000 in plastic cover.
Directions on how to get to the event center will be given at the time of the publication of the competition area. As parking areas are very limited competitors are kindly asked to use public transportation. The most relevant public transportation stations and stops are situated 100-500 m from the event center. The car park is located about 1,5 km from the event center. There will be more information about transportation to the event center later on the event organizers’ web pages.
Starting times: will be published on this website on September 13, 2017.
Qualifications: First start will be at 9.30 am. Starting times will be published on the event pages at the latest on Wednesday 13th September, 2017. Quarantine for all classes closes at 9.30 am. Distance between the event center and quarantine is 800 m. Prestart is located in quarantine, and competitors may leave to go to start 20min before their actual starting time. Starting times and quarantine information for the finals will be published later.
Prizes: Prize giving ceremonies will take place in two parts. The latest part will start at 4.45 pm. Prizes for women and men in the same age category will be given at the same time.
There are no showers at the event center.

Child care: at the event center. Inform organizers of infants under 1 year.
Open classes: Free starting times between 1.30-2.30 pm. Map 10 euros, under 19 years 3 euros.
